A former usher from Prophet Odumeje’s church has shared insights. He revealed details about the cleric’s early ministry. Many surprising facts were unknown to the public.
Pastor CC Israel recounted these experiences via a Facebook post. He volunteered at the Mountain of Holy Ghost Intervention Deliverance Ministry. This was in Onitsha during the early 2000s.
Early Ministerial Style: Emulating Pastor Chris
Israel described Prophet Odumeje, whose full name is Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere. He was a gentle preacher then. His style closely mirrored Pastor Chris Oyakhilome’s ministry.
Odumeje frequently wore white suits. He also styled his hair similarly. During services, he mimicked Reverend Chris’s preaching.
His body movements during deliverance sessions were also imitations. They reflected the LoveWorld Incorporated president.
From Gentle Preacher to Dynamic Personality
Israel stated that Odumeje’s current dramatic style was not always present. It evolved over time.
He admired Odumeje’s later comedic approach. However, Israel sometimes wished the cleric maintained his original style.
The church’s proximity influenced Israel’s participation. Its location was convenient for him.
Odumeje’s ministry was near his home. It was located on St. John’s Street Odoakpu, Onitsha. This made it easy to attend and volunteer.
A Former Usher’s Personal Account
Israel shared his personal journey. He was a member of Odumeje’s ministry in Onitsha. This was during the early 2000s. He served voluntarily as an usher. Having recently returned to Nigeria after five years abroad, he sought a ministry to join.
The Mountain of Holy Ghost Intervention and Deliverance Ministry was conveniently located. It was near Anthony Fride compound on St. John’s Street, Odoakpu, Onitsha. This was close to his residence. He chose to attend due to its proximity. Initially, he knew little about Prophet Odumeje.
In those days, Prophet Odumeje often wore white suits and white shoes. He consciously emulated Reverend Chris Oyakhilome’s style. He would arrange his hair similarly. His preaching mimicked Reverend Chris’s accent, often with a hand in his pocket. The Odumeje Israel knew then was composed. He preached gently, much like Pastor Chris.
During deliverance sessions, he would move his legs like Pastor Chris. People would fall, seemingly en masse. Israel often reflects on his early style. He wishes Odumeje had continued with the Pastor Chris approach. Although, his unique comedic flair would not have emerged.
Israel departed from the ministry shortly after. He began receiving peculiar glances during sermons. The exact reason for his departure remains unclear. He light-heartedly suggested that if Odumeje ever leaves the ministry, singer Flavour might be involved.
