Former Osun State Governor, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, has firmly stated his loyalty to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He declared he would not follow Governor Ademola Adeleke to the Accord Party. Oyinlola made these remarks while accusing President Bola Tinubu of instigating the current crisis within the PDP.
Speaking in Okuku, Osun State, on Thursday, the former governor lamented President Tinubu’s alleged interference. He claimed the President was fueling internal party disputes. This, he suggested, was an effort to pave an easier path for his 2027 re-election bid. The occasion was the second matriculation ceremony of Alolade Oyinlola College of Health Sciences and Information Technology, an institution he owns.
Oyinlola’s Unwavering Loyalty to PDP
Oyinlola, a former military administrator of Lagos State, was unequivocal about his political future. “I won’t leave PDP unless it goes into extinction,” he declared. He further stressed, “I am not following Demola to Accord (Party).”
The former governor cited his age as a reason for his unwavering stance. “At my age, I can’t be pushed around,” he stated. He also hinted at a gradual withdrawal from active politics, noting he would turn 75 in February 2026. This period precedes the August 8, 2026, governorship election in Osun State.
Accusations Against President Tinubu
Oyinlola did not mince words regarding the challenges facing the PDP. He directly blamed President Tinubu for the party’s woes. “The problem would have been solved but for the interference of Tinubu,” Oyinlola asserted.
He elaborated on his accusation, stating, “He sees PDP as a major challenge poised on his 2027 ambition.” Oyinlola suggested that President Tinubu desires a seamless re-election. “He doesn’t want to run, he wants to walk into the Villa,” the former governor added, implying a desire for an uncontested path.
Commitment to Education
During the matriculation ceremony, Oyinlola also addressed the newly admitted students. As the proprietor of Alolade Oyinlola College, he reaffirmed the institution’s dedication. The college aims to deliver education in health sciences and information management. This education, he assured, would be relevant both nationally and globally.
