The 40-year-old revealed he could no longer meet football’s demands. “I’m completely exhausted after just thirty minutes of running today,” Fernandinho stated. “Football no longer motivates me. I’ve achieved great success on the pitch and now want family time.”

Fernandinho’s career began in 2002 at Athletico Paranaense. He developed rapidly at the Brazilian club before transferring to Shakhtar Donetsk in 2005. The Ukrainian side paid €7 million for his signature.
