Femi Fani-Kayode, a former Minister of Aviation and APC chieftain, has again criticized former US President Donald Trump. His comments followed the rescue of 24 female students. These students were abducted from Government Girl’s Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga, Kebbi State.
On X (formerly Twitter), Fani-Kayode commended President Bola Tinubu and Nigerian security forces. He praised them for the successful rescue operation. However, he also sharply attacked the former American president.
“TRUST NOT THE KING OF MAR A LAGO!” Fani-Kayode declared. “It is great news that the 24 abducted female students are rescued. Praise President Bola Tinubu, our Armed Forces, and security agencies.”
He noted this rescue joined other recent successes. All 33 worshippers from an Eruku, Kwara State church were freed. Also, 50 of 303 students from St. Mary’s School in Papiri, Niger State, were released.
These events “rekindle our joy and give cause for hope,” he stated. Yet, more work is needed. All remaining victims must be rescued. Terrorism must be eliminated in Nigeria.
Fani-Kayode’s Denunciation of Trump
Fani-Kayode openly condemned former President Trump. He called Trump’s past remarks about Nigeria “tactless” and perilous.
He warned against trusting Trump to protect Nigerian Christians. Such belief, he stated, indicated being “uninformed and unintelligent.”
“Anyone believing Trump would distinguish between Christians and Muslims is a dullard,” Fani-Kayode asserted. This applies if Trump bombed Northern Nigeria. He would do this, supposedly, to save Christians from terrorism.
He quoted Nobel laureate Professor Wole Soyinka. Soyinka called Trump a “mad man” and “a petty dictator.” He likened him to “a white version of Idi Amin.”
Fani-Kayode echoed Soyinka’s view. He claimed Trump’s mental and moral state enabled him. He could target whole towns indiscriminately. This would be done under the pretext of combating terrorism.
“His agenda is clear,” Fani-Kayode wrote. “Trump seeks to demonise and dehumanise us all. This allows him to slaughter us without consequence.”
He cited Trump’s words from November 5. Trump had boasted about not losing wars. He mentioned bombing countries for years. He made everyone miserable, with no clear purpose. He blamed past leaders for this “stupidity.”
Caution Against Foreign Dependency
Fani-Kayode advised Nigerians, especially Christians, against relying on foreign nations. The United States or other powers should not be trusted. They cannot solve Nigeria’s security issues.
He used the analogy of a turkey hoping for Christmas. He implied trusting Trump would bring ruin, not safety.
He quoted Rev. Dr. Munther Isaac from Bethlehem. Isaac stated, “we Palestinians prefer to die than have Trump defend us.” Fani-Kayode likened trusting Trump to “inviting Satan to solve your problems.”
Strategies to Counter Terrorism
Fani-Kayode outlined specific actions for Nigeria to fight terrorism autonomously:
- Aid to terrorists must be a capital offense.
- Nigeria should resist foreign attempts to divide Christians and Muslims.
- The Federal Government must ensure strong security and accountability.
- Soldiers and security agencies need proper equipment and motivation.
- Engage retired South African Special Forces officer, Colonel Eebyn Barlow, for strategic assistance.
- Build defense ties with Russia. Strengthen economic links with China. Solidify diplomatic relations with the UK, Germany, France, and the EU.
He stressed that Nigerians should not trust a nation. Its President publicly called Nigeria a “shithole” and “disgrace.” This leader shows contempt and constant threats. He also exhibits a clear psychopathic disposition.
Fani-Kayode concluded, “A word is enough for the wise. Hopefully, someone is listening.”
