A former usher at Prophet Odumeje’s church recently shared insights. He discussed the cleric’s early ministry. Many surprising details were revealed.
Pastor CC Israel made these disclosures in a Facebook post. He volunteered at the Mountain of Holy Ghost Intervention Deliverance Ministry. This was in Onitsha during the early 2000s.
Emulating Pastor Chris’s Style
Israel described Prophet Odumeje (Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere). He was a mild preacher. His ministry closely mirrored Pastor Chris Oyakhilome’s.
Odumeje frequently wore white suits. He also styled his hair. He imitated Pastor Chris’s preaching mannerisms during services.
His body language during deliverance mirrored the LoveWorld Incorporated president.
From Serene Preacher to Dynamic Cleric
Israel stated Odumeje’s current dramatic style was not always present. It evolved over time.
Israel appreciates Odumeje’s comedic flair now. However, he sometimes wishes the cleric had kept his original style.
The church’s proximity influenced his participation.
Odumeje’s ministry was near his home. This was on St John’s Street Odoakpu, Onitsha. It made attending and volunteering easy.
A Former Usher’s Recollection
Recalling his time, Israel wrote: “I belonged to Odumeje’s ministry in Onitsha. This was in the early 2000s. I volunteered as an usher. I was an evangelist back then. I had just returned to Nigeria after five years abroad. I sought a ministry to join.”
“The Mountain of Holy Ghost Intervention and Deliverance Ministry was close. It was near Anthony Fride compound on St John’s Street, Odoakpu, Onitsha. This was off Bida Road, where I lived. I felt compelled to attend. I knew nothing of Odumeje then. The church simply offered convenience.”
“He often wore white suits and white shoes. He imitated Rev Chris Oyakhilome’s style. He styled his hair. He mimicked Rev Chris’s accent during sermons. He often preached with one hand in his pocket. The Odumeje I knew then was not this wild. He was calm, much like Pastor Chris. During deliverance, he would kick his legs. People would then fall, like dominoes. I wish he had kept that Pastor Chris style. Though, his comedic side might never have emerged.”
“I left soon after. He began giving me strange looks during some sermons. Why I left, I cannot say. I truly don’t know. If Odumeje eventually quits ministry, blame Flavour. Haha.”
