Nollywood actress Etinosa Idemudia recently shared her views. She stated that intense kissing and hugging in films are just like any other movie scene.
Her comments came amid ongoing discussions on intimacy in Nollywood. Etinosa stressed that professional actors should easily adopt and shed characters. The popular actress clarified that she feels nothing during such scenes.
She explained her approach. “Intimacy scenes in Nollywood are like any other,” she said. “The director’s ‘cut’ brings everyone back to normal.”
She further elaborated on an actor’s mindset. “A professional actor enters and exits characters easily,” she noted. “You perform on ‘action.’ You detach on ‘cut.'”
Idemudia emphasized the technical aspect. “Passionate kissing and hugging is pure performance,” she stated. “You do it without personal feelings. That’s true acting.” “It isn’t registered in your mind as erotic.”
“Often, I consider if the scene looks good on screen,” she added. “It is more about calculation than actual intimacy.”
She concluded by highlighting mental focus. “Though it looks real, I feel nothing during intimate scenes,” Idemudia revealed. “It’s a matter of mental discipline. A mind tuned to work doesn’t get carried away.”
