Dr. Wole Oluyede is the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Ekiti State. He has applauded the party’s recent decision. The PDP leadership opted to expel former Governor Ayodele Fayose.
Dr. Oluyede, a medical doctor based in Australia, addressed journalists in Ado-Ekiti. This followed a crucial party stakeholders’ meeting. He asserted that Fayose must accept responsibility. Fayose, he said, had undermined the party for the past three years.
Oluyede stressed that the party would not permit Fayose to destroy their progress. Party leaders are diligently building new structures. These efforts aim to ensure the PDP emerges victorious in the 2026 governorship election in Ekiti.
He proudly stated that the Ekiti PDP remains strong. The party is united and intact. This resilience stands despite Fayose’s alleged anti-party activities.
Oluyede urged the Tunji Odeyemi-led State Executive to form a reconciliation committee. This committee should address various grievances. It needs to reach out to aspirants who lost the primary election. It should also engage other disgruntled party members.
He offered insights into party dynamics. “Political parties often have internal issues,” he noted. “This is common globally.” He added, “I am not concerned with the national crisis. My focus is not a national office. I only need the support of Ekiti people. We are confident we will secure it.”
Speaking about leadership, Oluyede emphasized accountability. “A leader of eight years, relied upon by the people, should not betray their trust,” he stated. He clarified Fayose’s options: “He can choose to return. We will certainly welcome him back.”
“However, if he decides to stay away and threatens to bulldoze the party, we will resist him,” Oluyede warned. He continued, “If he attacks us, we will retaliate. No one builds a house only to bring a bulldozer to destroy it.”
He expressed gratitude for the party’s stability. “Thank God, he has not managed to pull us down,” Oluyede stated. “We are currently building the party. We are growing stronger every day. There is no existing faction within this party.”
