Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leaders in Ekiti State have urgently appealed to Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and national party leadership to intervene against attempts to nullify the legitimate governorship primary victory of Dr. Wole Oluyede. The leaders cautioned that overturning the people’s mandate would effectively hand political advantage to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
During their appeal, the PDP stakeholders emphasized Oluyede’s credibility as the democratically chosen candidate capable of securing victory in the 2026 Ekiti governorship election. “We’re determined to win the June 2026 election and reject any betrayal to APC,” the leaders declared. “The opposition knows we’ve selected a strong candidate through proper primaries.”
The leaders highlighted concerns about external forces attempting to invalidate the primary results in favor of unpopular alternatives. “Voters exercised their democratic right by choosing the candidate they believe can deliver PDP victory. Senator Ibrahim Dankwambo, former governor and Accountant-General of the Federation, officially declared the results after a peaceful and credible electoral process,” they affirmed.
Describing the primary as transparent and fair, the PDP faction warned that undermining Oluyede’s mandate would damage party unity ahead of crucial elections. They stressed the need for Governor Makinde and national leaders to protect the integrity of internal democratic processes against external interference.
