The Federal High Court in Ado Ekiti has adjourned a key political suit. It challenges the emergence of Wole Oluyede as the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) governorship candidate in Ekiti State. The new hearing date is December 8, 2025.
Oluyede was declared winner of the PDP gubernatorial primary. This election took place on November 8, 2025. Senator Ibrahim Dankwambo led the electoral committee.
He secured 279 votes. His closest rival was Funsho Ayeni. Mrs. Funmi Ogun also contested.
However, Ayeni has filed a suit, FHC/AD/CS/29/2025. He seeks to nullify Oluyede’s victory. Ayeni insists the primary election was flawed.
At Friday’s proceedings, prominent legal teams were present. Kola Kolade, SAN, led the lawyers for Ayeni. Ola Olanipekun, SAN, and Barrister Owoseni Ajayi represented Oluyede. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) also had legal representation. Barrister Ola Alonge, the party’s Osun State Legal Adviser, held a brief for the PDP.
Justice Babs Ikuewumi heard arguments from all sides. He assured the court would give the matter urgent attention.
The Justice promised a “speedy hearing of the case.” Further proceedings are now adjourned to December 8, 2025.
Osun Governor Adeleke’s Alleged Defection Plans
Meanwhile, a prominent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain has offered an explanation. Umar Sani spoke about Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State. Adeleke did not attend the party’s primary election in the state.
Sani claimed Adeleke believed the party’s internal crisis was an issue. This crisis, he said, would prevent the PDP from producing a validly recognized candidate.
Sani made these allegations during an appearance on Arise Television. He featured on the Morning Show on Friday. The chieftain alleged the governor planned to defect to another party. This was to secure a ticket before returning to the PDP.
Sani further alleged deliberate avoidance. He claimed the governor skipped the process. This was to establish grounds for a temporary defection.
Sani chaired the three-man ad hoc delegates committee for Osun. He stated that he personally supervised the delegates’ election in Osogbo.
He reported the exercise was peaceful. Results were uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal. They also received official acknowledgment.
The party, he added, rejected this strategy. It insisted all aspirants must contest on the PDP platform. This, he said, was vital to preserve the party’s integrity.
