Nigerian rapper Oladipupo Olabode Oladimeji, known professionally as Oladips, has disclosed why the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested him. During a Hip TV interview, the artist revealed authorities detained him for tax non-payment. This occurred after investigations cleared him of fraud allegations.
Oladips described the unexpected arrest: “It was a normal night when EFCC entered my estate. They moved house-to-house making arrests. I was home around 3am.”
“I saw EFCC’s presence in the estate group chat. I remained in bed using my phone. I had no reason to flee since I’m not involved in fraud,” the rapper explained. “Only guilty people run from such situations.”
He detailed the intrusion: “They broke through my kitchen door. Officers demanded my phone and laptop. I only use two phones – no laptop. They confiscated my devices for examination.”
After finding no evidence of fraud, Oladips stated: “A superior officer then questioned my tax compliance. That’s why they detained me – for unpaid taxes.” The incident highlights EFCC’s expanded enforcement focus.
