The Edo State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Kassim Afegbua, has vehemently dismissed recent social media reports claiming he is critically ill and bedridden.
These rumours gained traction after a video circulated, featuring Albert Obazee, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). In the video, Obazee stated, “Information reaching me now is that Kassim Afegbua is very sick. Kassim Afegbua is battling with his life as we speak.” He further claimed an APC member informed him that Afegbua did not understand the cause of his illness.
In a swift response posted on his social media platforms, Afegbua categorically denied Obazee’s claims. He labeled Obazee a “pathological liar” who thrives on spreading misinformation.
The Commissioner asserted his excellent health. He confirmed he had been actively at work throughout the day. To prove his point, Afegbua shared a video of himself seated at his office desk.
“Good afternoon my good people of Edo State. I have decided to release this video just to make the point that one noisemaker, Albert Obazee, who lives and feeds on social media, is actually a confirmed liar,” Afegbua declared in the video. “I am right here working in my office. I have been sitting here since 10am in the morning.”
Afegbua Places Curse on Obazee
Visibly angered by the false allegations, Afegbua went on to pronounce a curse on the PDP member. He insisted that Obazee’s malicious wishes against him would rebound on him and his family.
“All the nonsense he posted on social media, saying that his father, mother and children are not well, may God continue to make them unwell,” Afegbua stated emphatically. “I want to place a curse on Albert Obazee. He will know that I am a true son of Afegbua from Okpella in Edo State. That wish that you gave to me, that wish will bounce on your head.”
Afegbua urged the public to dismiss the health rumours as baseless. He reassured everyone that he remains active and fully engaged in his official duties.

Furthermore, he called on the people of Edo State to continue their steadfast support for Governor Monday Okpebholo. According to Afegbua, the governor is tirelessly working to rectify the issues left by his predecessor, Godwin Obaseki.
