Six governors who recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) attended their inaugural caucus meeting with the ruling party. The gathering took place at Abuja’s State House Conference Centre on Thursday.
The state executives formally joining APC activities include Siminalayi Fubara (Rivers), Peter Mbah (Enugu), Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta), Douye Diri (Bayelsa), Umo Eno (Akwa Ibom), and Agbu Kefas (Taraba). This marks their first participation in APC proceedings since switching parties.
Several prominent former PDP leaders also attended the high-profile meeting. Notable attendees included ex-Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and former Senate Presidents Anyim Pius Anyim and Ken Nnamani.
Key figures from Nigeria’s current administration participated in the session. Vice President Kashim Shettima led the attendees. Senate President Godswill Akpabio and House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas joined him. Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau and Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu were also present.
President Bola Tinubu arrived at the venue at 7:38 PM to formally commence proceedings. The caucus meeting aims to shape crucial party decisions ahead of future political engagements.
