Nigerian comedian and reality TV personality DeeOne has publicly addressed fashion designer Veekee James’ recent podcast remarks by revealing they previously dated. This comes after James described DeeOne as someone who “cannot be taken seriously” during an interview with VJ Adams.
In a candid Instagram video response, DeeOne clarified their relationship timeline. “When I came out from Big Brother Naija in 2018, myself and Ruth [Veekee James] had something,” he stated. He emphasized there’s no lingering animosity between them.
Addressing Control Concerns
The comedian explained why their relationship ended, highlighting his discomfort with James’ demands. “Personally, I don’t like people controlling me. She’d be sewing and say ‘help me do this, buy this for me’ – I’m your boyfriend, not your house help.”
Despite their differences, DeeOne extended goodwill to James and her husband Femi. “I wish them the best. I’m a fan of whatever they’re doing because I’m not a hater. I’ve moved on.” He suggested her critical comments might stem from unresolved issues.
DeeOne advised fans against taking celebrity disputes personally. “Don’t take all this thing personal. There are things in the entertainment industry people don’t know about.” He noted James frequently speaks negatively about him despite his peaceful stance.
