Afrobeats superstar Davido has commented on his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke’s recent departure from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Governor Adeleke’s aide, Olawale Rasheed, later shared the resignation letter online. It stated the governor left due to unresolved national-level issues within the party.
In his letter, addressed to the Ward 2 chairman in Ede North, Adeleke acknowledged the party’s support. He mentioned their role in his journey from senator to governor. However, he stated that ongoing disputes made it impossible for him to continue his membership.
Reacting to the news, Davido posted simply “Jeje…” on his X page.
This announcement has brought uncertainty to the plans for the Osun 2026 governorship primary. The state PDP had earlier announced a postponement of the primary. This was due to internal disagreements. Yet, the party’s National Working Committee insisted the exercise must proceed.
Adding to the confusion, Governor Adeleke remains the only candidate who has purchased the governorship form.
Speculation is now widespread that Adeleke might seek a second term under the Accord Party. Reports suggest some of his aides are already moving into the Accord Party and taking up key positions in Osun.
Earlier attempts by Adeleke to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) were reportedly unsuccessful. Party leaders had allegedly rejected his application.
