Nigerian Grammy-winning artist Davido has publicly defended his close relationship with logistics manager Isreal DMW, acknowledging public criticism while emphasizing their genuine bond.
A Friendship Beyond Laughter
The Afrobeats star recently compared Carter Efe and Kolu’s friendship to his own with Isreal DMW. Despite facing ridicule, Davido stressed the significance of their connection.
“Many people laugh at me and Isreal,” Davido confessed. “But he remains one of my closest friends – someone I can truly cry to. That’s just how life works.”
The Omah Lay Collaboration Story
In related news, Davido explained how his collaboration with fellow artist Omah Lay on ‘With You’ resolved a significant misunderstanding between them.
Earlier this year, Omah Lay revealed he’d mistakenly believed Davido “hated” him. This perception changed when Davido played Omah Lay’s music during a livestream with American personality Kai Cenat in Lagos.
Davido recounted the turning point: “While driving Kai Cenat to a club, Omah Lay’s song played. When Kai asked about it, I praised Omah Lay as ‘hot’ in the industry.”
The next day, Omah Lay tweeted his surprise at Davido’s unexpected support. Davido immediately reached out privately asking, “Why would you think I hate you? We’ve never met.”
Their subsequent communication led to four collaborative recordings. Omah Lay ultimately selected ‘With You’ as their official release.
