Nollywood actor and filmmaker Daniel Etim-Effiong has disclosed his spiritual preparation for on-screen intimacy, revealing he engages in prayer before performing kissing scenes in movies.
During an appearance on Channels Television’s “Rubbin’ Minds,” the actor explained that his Christian faith governs his professional decisions. He consistently seeks divine guidance before accepting romantic roles in film projects.
Etim-Effiong noted that many Nollywood producers incorporate kissing scenes due to audience appeal. Despite facing criticism for frequent romantic portrayals, he maintains focus on his artistic purpose. He described acting as both a divine calling and form of worship.
“The industry’s demand for romantic roles sometimes involves kissing scenes,” Etim-Effiong stated. “While some consider it excessive, producers should explore diverse expressions of affection beyond physical intimacy.”
The actor emphasized his spiritual routine: “I kneel in prayer before performing any kissing scene. All my creative inspiration comes from God.” He credits his family and faith for stability despite career challenges.
Etim-Effiong, who transitioned from engineering to filmmaking, views storytelling as his life’s purpose. “Leaving a lucrative engineering career felt like answering a divine call. Acting allows me to inspire others – it’s worship through artistry,” he affirmed.
The filmmaker concluded that prayer provides clarity during intimate scenes. He remains committed to projects that align with his values while perfecting his craft.
