Dan Nwanyanwu, a former presidential candidate for the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), has issued a strong warning. He claims individuals pushing former President Goodluck Jonathan to contest in 2027 merely want to “clean their mess.”
Nwanyanwu urged Jonathan to exercise extreme caution regarding these calls. He stressed that the full implications of past actions are not yet understood by those making the appeals.
When questioned about Jonathan’s potential candidacy, Nwanyanwu revealed he plans to meet the former president soon. However, he advised Jonathan to “wait a bit” before making any decision. Nwanyanwu further pointed out that these current callers are the very individuals who once “betrayed an honest, good man.” He added that Jonathan was a man with a “clear conscience.”
“They now wish to use him to fix their own problems,” Nwanyanwu asserted. He added that the situation has not yet fully evolved. These individuals, he noted, are yet to grasp the consequences of their earlier actions.
Nwanyanwu also touched on broader political issues facing the nation. He observed that political parties often grapple with internal struggles. Many political actors, he noted, frequently fail to adhere to established rules. He referenced constitutional provisions that advocate for power rotation within the country.
“I believe the South should have another four years,” he stated candidly. Nwanyanwu acknowledged that such a statement could be misconstrued as support for President Tinubu.
