Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones has revealed that star forward Mohamed Salah apologized to teammates following controversial comments criticizing the club and manager Arne Slot.
Jones disclosed the apology while discussing the aftermath of Salah’s explosive interview. The Egyptian forward’s remarks had sparked intense debate among fans and analysts.
Salah had accused Liverpool of “throwing him under the bus” during the interview. He claimed he lacked a positive relationship with manager Slot. These comments reportedly created tension within the squad. This led to Salah’s temporary exclusion from team selection.
After initial omission, Salah returned for Liverpool’s victory over Brighton. His participation suggested behind-the-scenes reconciliation efforts.
Jones explained Salah took responsibility for the impact of his words. “Mo is his own man, and he can say his own stuff,” Jones told Sky Sports. “He apologized to us and was like, ‘If I’ve affected anybody or made you feel any sort of way, I apologize’. That is the man that he is.”
The midfielder emphasized Salah maintained professionalism throughout the controversy. “I can only speak from my knowing Mo and how he is with us. He was positive as well,” Jones added.
This development appears to have eased concerns about potential squad divisions. Jones’ comments indicate the matter has been largely resolved internally.
