A Nigerian man criticized a church for utilizing a Point of Sale (POS) machine to collect tithes and offerings. This incident gained viral attention across social media platforms.
Modern Offering Collection: Church Implements POS for Donations
The widely shared video showed a church attendant assisting an older woman. She was making her offering payment via the POS device. Following the transaction, she received a receipt. The attendant then moved on.
Public Reacts to POS Offering System
Many online users voiced concerns about the commercialization of religious institutions. They suggested that churches now operate more like businesses.
One user, @nightprogram_, commented, “Churches function as businesses. Genuine worship originates from the heart.”
Another user, @Da__preye, observed, “Jesus would be weary of some churches.”
A user named @kenny_pablo defended the practice. They stated, “Tithe payment is scriptural, regardless of the collection method. Many people no longer carry physical cash. POS systems are common, even at social events. Attending a church you disagree with is not mandatory.”
@dele003 added, “This practice has existed for years. No one compels individuals to contribute to the church.”
