Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie has earned a prestigious nomination for the 2025 International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) Women’s World Best Goalkeeper award. The Nigerian shot-stopper joins an elite group of ten top goalkeepers globally recognized for their outstanding performances.
Nnadozie stands as the sole African representative on the distinguished shortlist. The 24-year-old Brighton & Hove Albion player faces formidable competition from football giants. These include Germany’s Ann-Katrin Berger of Gotham FC and Spain’s Cata Coll from Barcelona.
Other contenders feature England’s Hannah Hampton (Chelsea), Chile’s Christiane Endler (Lyon), and Dutch keeper Daphne van Domselaar (Arsenal). Completing the list are Katharine Tapia (Colombia/Palmeiras), Lorena Leite (Brazil/Kansas City), Phallon Tullis-Joyce (USA/Manchester United), and Sweden’s Jennifer Falk (Häcken).
Founded in 1987, the IFFHS awards honor exceptional football talent across multiple categories. Winners are determined through votes from journalists and analysts across over 120 nations. The 2025 results will be unveiled this December alongside official rankings.
This nomination highlights Nnadozie’s exceptional year. Since joining Brighton, she has become a standout performer in the Women’s Super League. Her quick reflexes and commanding presence have earned widespread acclaim.
Earlier this week, Nnadozie secured another nomination. She contended for October’s Barclays WSL Save of the Month award. This followed her spectacular save against Tottenham’s Eveliina Summanen.
Her international achievements are equally impressive. Nnadozie claimed Best Goalkeeper honors at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. She played a pivotal role in Nigeria’s strong tournament campaign.
In September, she achieved another historic milestone. Nnadozie became the first Nigerian and African goalkeeper nominated for the Women’s Yachine Trophy. She ultimately finished fourth in that prestigious contest.
Nnadozie remains a frontrunner for the CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year award. She aims to secure this title for the third consecutive time. An IFFHS win would make her the first African woman crowned World Best Goalkeeper.
