Chelsea will face Newcastle United without young attacker Estevao after manager Enzo Maresca confirmed the Brazilian’s muscle injury. The 18-year-old will miss this weekend’s Premier League clash at Stamford Bridge.
Estevao has made 21 appearances this season. He scored five goals and provided one assist. The teenager featured as a substitute against Everton but missed Chelsea’s Carabao Cup quarter-final victory over Cardiff City.
“It’s a small muscle problem,” Maresca stated after Chelsea’s 3-1 cup win. “He won’t be available for Newcastle. We’ll assess him for future matches.”
Against Championship side Cardiff, Chelsea fielded a rotated lineup. Substitute Alejandro Garnacho opened the scoring before David Turnbull equalized. Pedro Neto and Garnacho secured Chelsea’s semi-final place with a 3-1 victory.
The Blues now refocus on Premier League duties. Maintaining their top-four position remains critical. Newcastle’s visit presents a significant challenge without Estevao’s attacking threat.
Carabao Cup action continues with Fulham hosting Newcastle and Manchester City facing Brentford in Wednesday’s remaining quarter-finals.
