The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has changed the date for Rivers United’s crucial CAF Champions League second preliminary round match against Mozambique’s Black Bulls.
Originally set for Sunday, November 26, the decisive second-leg encounter will now take place on Saturday, November 25. The match remains scheduled at Uyo’s Godswill Akpabio International Stadium with a 4 p.m. kickoff time.
CAF provided no explanation for the rescheduling. This change gives Rivers United one less preparation day for this must-win fixture. The Nigerian club trails 1-0 on aggregate after their first-leg defeat in Maputo. They must secure a victory by at least two clear goals to advance to the tournament’s lucrative group stage.
Sanusi Returns for Porto’s European Clash
In related football news, Super Eagles defender Zaidu Sanusi has been medically cleared for FC Porto’s UEFA Europa League match against Nottingham Forest.
The 26-year-old left-back missed nearly two weeks of action after sustaining a calf injury during international duty with Nigeria. This injury forced him to sit out Porto’s domestic cup fixture last weekend.
Sanusi resumed full training on Wednesday and received medical clearance for Porto’s trip to England. Having featured in Porto’s opening two Europa League matches this season, the Nigerian defender is expected to play a significant role as the Portuguese giants seek to boost their Group C qualification hopes.
