Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has announced he will postpone all discussions about his future until after the 2026 World Cup. The midfielder confirmed his complete focus remains on Manchester United’s ambitions this season.
Fernandes prepares for his 300th United appearance against Brighton at Old Trafford this Saturday. This milestone highlights his remarkable consistency since joining from Sporting Lisbon in January 2020 for £47 million.
During his near five-year tenure, Fernandes missed only 17 matches. Just three absences resulted from injury or illness. He rejected a major offer from Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal last summer and continues to dismiss transfer speculation.
“I feel good here and want to achieve my dreams,” Fernandes stated. “Reports of agreements for next season are untrue. My agent knows I won’t discuss anything until after the World Cup.”
His contract runs until 2027 with an option for another year. Reports suggest a £56.6 million release clause exists for overseas moves. Fernandes maintains strong commitment to United.
“My family thrives here,” he added. “My children love their school and lifestyle. When asked if I’d achieved everything at United, I said no. I’m here to win trophies and bring success.”
