Olabode George is a former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) Federal Government. George claims they are trying to destroy the PDP. He also states they are undermining Nigeria’s democracy.
Speaking on Tuesday, George discussed the state of the nation. He urged President Bola Tinubu to act quickly. Tinubu should call FCT Minister Nyesom Wike to order, George said. He asked the President to instruct Wike to stop interfering in PDP internal matters.
George’s Concerns Over National State
George delivered an address. It was titled ‘Dear Mr President, our nation is wobbling politically’. He claimed the APC government focuses too much on 2027 elections. This comes at the expense of national security, he added. It also harms institutional integrity.
He criticized the government’s slow response. Insecurity is rising nationwide. This includes abductions and killings across many states.
George stated: “The APC-led Federal Government shows no urgency. Instead, it focuses on political positioning for 2027. This happens even if it weakens institutions. It also suffocates the opposition.”
The PDP Secretariat Incident
George pointed to a recent event. The PDP National Secretariat saw disruption on November 18, 2025. He called this a “grave warning.” It shows a wider anti-democratic pattern, he claimed.
He directly implicated the FCT Minister in the chaos. George alleged that a serving Federal Minister encouraged the forceful entry. He referred to the Wike-aligned faction. This group recently faced expulsion from the PDP.
George added: “A group was expelled for anti-party activities. A serving Federal Minister reportedly encouraged them. Their actions assault democratic order. This is unacceptable. The forced entry into the PDP National Secretariat broke all rules of decency. It also broke all laws.”
George questioned the police actions during the fracas. Police deployed tear gas. This was to disperse clashing factions.
“Who authorised police to seize the headquarters?” he asked. “Under what authority did they act? Since when can a tenant displace a landlord?”
He concluded the APC government uses this situation. They aim to destroy the PDP. George called the PDP “the only true national party in Nigeria.” He said the government protects “renegades” with police assistance.
Direct Appeal to President Tinubu and Warning to Wike
Chief George made a direct appeal to the President. He also issued a strong warning to the Minister.
He said: “You must call your minister to order. Insist he respects the laws of the land.”
He then addressed Minister Nyesom Wike as an elder. “You have gained much from the PDP,” George stated. “You served as a Local Government Chairman, Chief of Staff, Minister, and Governor. The party supported your political growth. It is painful to see you act in ways that harm this institution. Power is temporary; reputation lasts forever. Do not let yourself be used. Do not destabilise the Republic.”
“History teaches us many lessons,” he reminded. “Weakened institutions lead to chaos. Nigeria does not deserve this path.”
