Former Real Madrid legend Karim Benzema has sparked speculation about a sensational return to the Spanish giants while commenting on current stars Vinícius Júnior and Kylian Mbappé. The Al Ittihad striker left his future in Saudi Arabia uncertain during recent interviews.
Potential Madrid Comeback
Benzema hinted at a possible Bernabéu return when asked about his future plans. “If Florentino is still there, it could happen,” the 37-year-old stated. “I could never say no to Pérez. I’m a Madridista. I feel it in my soul.”
The French striker, who scored over 300 goals for Real Madrid, acknowledged his Al Ittihad contract runs until 2026 but remained non-committal: “I don’t know if I’ll leave or stay. It depends on many factors.”
Defending Vinícius Júnior
Benzema strongly defended Brazilian winger Vinícius against recent criticism. “Don’t forget what Vini Jr did for Real Madrid. It wouldn’t be fair,” he insisted. “He’s a phenomenal kid with a big heart. People put too much pressure on him.”
Leadership Void at Madrid
The Ballon d’Or winner observed a leadership gap in Real Madrid’s current squad following their generational transition. “Football is different now. The current team might have more talent but lacks a true leader,” Benzema noted. “They need to find what a leader brings.”
Advice for Mbappé
Benzema emphasized Kylian Mbappé’s need to deliver in crucial moments. “He must focus when Real Madrid needs him most. In decisive games against teams like Atlético or Liverpool, he has to step up and score,” the veteran forward advised.
He also stressed the importance of clear roles among attackers: “Vinicius, Mbappé, Rodrygo and Bellingham must communicate. Each has specific responsibilities. We can’t ask Bellingham to score like Mbappé or vice versa.”
