Imisi Ayanwale, the celebrated winner of Big Brother Naija Season 10, has finally addressed recent accusations from her mother.
The controversy started when Imisi’s mother shared videos online. In these videos, she claimed abandonment. She also stated she still lived in poor conditions, despite Imisi’s N150 million prize.
These videos, posted on November 16, showed her mother’s frustration. She emphatically stated she would not beg for assistance.
Imisi responded on her Instagram page. She clarified that her mother was absent from her life before her BBNaija victory. Imisi added that long periods often passed without any contact between them.
Imisi expressed shock at the sudden public outburst. Their relationship, she noted, had always been strained.
Imisi further explained her consistent support. She stated she had sent money to her mother for years. This support continued even days before the current controversy erupted.
She also mentioned her prize money. Imisi stated she cannot use it solely for one person’s comfort. Many other family members now rely on her.
Imisi directly questioned her mother’s sudden interest. She quoted, “Before I won BBNaija, I lived my life. You would not even call me for one or two years. Why is there a problem now?”
She emphasized her efforts, stating, “God knows I have tried. I still sent you money last week and four days ago. Will I kill myself?”
Imisi also highlighted her broader responsibilities. She declared, “I cannot take N1 out of the money I won for anybody’s comfort. I have 100 people in the family looking up to me alone.”
She concluded by reflecting on her past. “You were absent,” Imisi stated, “during the toughest phases of my life.”
