The Bauchi State chapter of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has strongly dismissed recent rumours. These rumours suggested Governor Bala Mohammed might be planning to defect to their platform. The party described such speculation as “unfounded and unacceptable.”
Wada Abdullahi, the PRP’s State Secretary, issued a statement on Wednesday. He affirmed the party’s clear position. The PRP will not accept Governor Mohammed under any circumstances. This decision stems from what it calls “a record of poor performance and disregard for democratic values.”
The statement highlighted the governor’s tenure. It stated, “His tenure as governor has been characterised by poor performance. We find this both disappointing and unacceptable.”
Allegations of Misconduct and Future Plans
The party also accused the governor and his supporters of unruly conduct. This behaviour reportedly occurred during political engagements. Specifically, it referenced incidents at Wadata Plaza, the national headquarters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abuja.
The statement declared, “Such behaviour is inconsistent with the values of our party. The PRP stands for sanity, decency, orderliness, and discipline.”
It further added that the PRP serves as a sanctuary for disciplined leadership. It is not a refuge for politicians with questionable records.
The PRP went on to promise a full investigation. This probe would target the Bala Mohammed administration. It would commence if the PRP wins the 2027 general election.
The party stated, “We will thoroughly investigate his administration. Any wrongdoers will be brought to book. We will also review policies implemented during his tenure.”
Among the controversial policies the party would reverse is the creation of a First Class Emirate. It also plans to review the appointment of the governor’s elder brother as Emir.
Despite its firm stance on Governor Mohammed, the PRP clarified its general policy. The party remains open to individuals. These individuals must have “contributed positively to the development of Bauchi State.” They must also align with the party’s core principles.
