Nollywood actor Olanrewaju Omiyinka, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, has been released from prison. This follows an appeal court decision overturning his conviction in an alleged sexual assault case. He spent over three years in custody.
Fellow actor Yomi Fabiyi announced the development via Instagram. He declared Baba Ijesha “officially freed” after the appellate court cleared him. Fabiyi stated the actor was exonerated from child defilement accusations.
Controversial Case Details
Fabiyi described the seven-year case as a “charade.” He claimed the accusers falsified the victim’s age. Evidence showing the girl was 14 years old reportedly never surfaced in court.
The actor also raised questions about other individuals involved. He named Damola Adekola and a security guard called Okele. Both were allegedly connected to Princess Comedian.
Fabiyi noted Adekola admitted to a relationship with the girl. Yet authorities released him despite similar initial charges. This contrasted with Baba Ijesha’s prolonged detention.
Allegations Against Princess Comedian
Fabiyi accused Princess Comedian of grooming the minor. He cited negligence in her guardianship. Medical evidence reportedly showed sperm unrelated to Baba Ijesha found on the girl.
The actor further alleged Princess Comedian engaged in child pornography. He claimed she installed cameras specifically to record the incident. This potentially caused re-traumatization of the minor.
Fabiyi emphasized his human rights organization condemns all sexual abuse. But he criticized selective justice in this case. He vowed to keep fighting against such “organized crime” scenarios.
