Nigerian music star Asake, born Ahmed Ololade, is currently facing significant backlash. The controversy surrounds the ₦300,000 ticket price announced for his upcoming Lagos homecoming concert.
Many social media users have voiced their displeasure. They argue that the steep fee excludes ordinary fans from attending the event.
Concert promoters clarified the pricing structure. They stated the cost covers extensive production and service expenses. Furthermore, VIP packages reportedly include additional exclusive benefits.
Despite these explanations, critics maintain their stance. They believe organisers are alienating the very fans who supported Asake’s ascent to fame.
Some fan groups have even suggested a potential boycott. They demand more affordable ticket options be made available.

Social media users swiftly voiced their disappointment. Many questioned the decision to charge such a high amount in the current economic climate. User Kruz Nation felt the price showed a “pure disrespect” for fans who streamed Asake’s music. Lara Flame accused organisers of being “out of touch with reality,” calling it a “rich-people parade.”
Dami Ice openly challenged Asake, suggesting he might “perform to empty seats.” Sparrow X pointed out the contradiction between Asake’s “street” lyrics and the inaccessible ticket prices. Rexy Lomo concluded that the “ridiculous price” insulted ordinary Nigerians, viewing it as an attempt to “squeeze fans dry.”
This incident is not Asake’s first encounter with concert pricing controversies.
Previous concerts in Lagos also faced criticism. VIP tickets and premium tables were previously sold at exorbitant rates, sometimes reaching millions of naira.
Asake rose to prominence in 2022 with his hit single, ‘Omo Ope’. Since then, he has built an impressive musical catalogue. His sound uniquely blends Afrobeats, Amapiano, and street-hop genres.
His notable hits include ‘Peace Be Unto You’, ‘Sungba’, ‘Terminator’, and ‘Organise’. These tracks have solidified his position as a major force in the Nigerian music industry.
