Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has provided crucial updates on his squad’s fitness. The Gunners are set to host Brentford at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night. They aim to regain momentum after a 1-1 draw against Chelsea last weekend.
During his pre-match press conference, Arteta discussed the status of four key players. These include Kai Havertz, William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhães, and Leandro Trossard.
Kai Havertz Still Weeks Away
Arteta confirmed on Tuesday that Kai Havertz’s return is still “weeks away.” The manager expressed his strong desire to have Havertz back. “We are all desperate to have him,” Arteta stated.
He added, “I love him for what he brings to the team, his character, his personality. I see him suffer being outside.”
Gabriel Magalhães Also Set for Extended Absence
Gabriel Magalhães also faces a similar recovery timeline. Arteta noted the Brazilian defender is progressing well. However, he is still “weeks” from rejoining full training.
“Gabriel Magalhães is doing very well,” Arteta said, “but it will take weeks to see him back.”
Hope for Saliba and Trossard’s Quick Return
Supporters received more encouraging news regarding William Saliba and Leandro Trossard. Arteta indicated their injuries are less severe. He hopes both players could return very soon.
“For William Saliba and Leandro Trossard,” Arteta commented, “hopefully it’s a matter of days.”
The Arsenal boss also described Saliba’s setback as “a very bizarre injury.” He expressed optimism, stating, “hopefully it will be a short time out.”
