The Taraba State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) will hold a decisive meeting today. Party stakeholders will finalize arrangements for Governor Agbu Kefas’ official defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
‘Divine Breakthrough’ for APC
State APC Chairman Ibrahim El-Sudi described the governor’s move as significant. “This is a divine breakthrough after 13 years of effort,” he told journalists in Jalingo. El-Sudi emphasized that God had delivered Taraba Government House without elections.
The chairman called the development a testament to divine timing. He noted APC’s consistent groundwork enabled this political shift.
Grand Reception Plans
Preparations are underway for a major reception ceremony in Jalingo. The event will feature President Bola Tinubu and APC National Working Committee members. Northeast geopolitical zone stakeholders will also attend.
“This reception will mark a historic moment for Taraba,” El-Sudi confirmed. He revealed Governor Kefas held prior consultations in Abuja. These included meetings with President Tinubu and APC national leaders.
Strengthened Federal Ties
The defection is expected to enhance Taraba-Federal Government collaboration. El-Sudi believes this will usher in new developmental progress. He addressed concerns about existing APC members being sidelined.
“Our party remains democratic,” the chairman assured. “All members retain rights to contest governorship under our platform.”
