The All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed former Social Democratic Party (SDP) presidential candidate Adewole Adebayo’s call for President Bola Tinubu to resign over security concerns.
Adebayo had asserted: “If your people are losing their lives in dozens, you have already failed governance’s primary duty. President Tinubu must use bullets against terrorists or resign with his pen.”
APC Deputy National Organising Secretary Nze Chidi Duru countered that Adebayo’s position represented personal opinion, not public will. Duru stressed that Tinubu’s mandate came from Nigerian voters.
“Only the electorate possesses the authority to make such demands. They alone can enforce it,” Duru stated. “This view doesn’t reflect majority Nigerians’ wishes.”
He clarified the administration acknowledges security challenges. The government is actively addressing these issues, according to Duru.
“Government recognizes Nigeria’s security problems,” Duru emphasized. “It’s working comprehensively to resolve them. Rather than criticism, authorities need encouragement. Citizens should provide relevant information to combat insurgency.”
Duru assured that security operations would show visible results. Progress will become apparent in coming weeks and months.
