The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) will convene on Monday. Its agenda includes a crucial review of the Osun State Screening Appeal Committee’s report. This committee examined the disqualification of seven governorship aspirants. These aspirants are vying for the party’s ticket in the upcoming December 13 primary election.
The five-member appeal panel, led by Senator Tolu Odebiyi, recently concluded a two-day session in Abuja. They are now prepared to present their findings to the NWC. The NWC, serving as the APC’s highest administrative body, will then ratify these recommendations.
Aspirants Seeking Reinstatement
Seven aspirants are currently challenging their initial disqualification. They include:
• Senator Iyiola Omisore, former National Secretary.
• Benedict Olugboyega Alabi, former Deputy Governor.
• Dotun Babayemi.
• Akin Ogunbiyi.
• Senator Babajide Omoworare.
• Kunle Adegoke (SAN).
• Babatunde Haketer Oralusi.
Barrister Obinna Uzor’s screening committee had initially disqualified these individuals. In contrast, the initial screening panel cleared only two aspirants: Hon. Mulikat Adeola Jimoh and Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji. They met all requirements of the party guidelines, the APC Constitution, and the Electoral Act.
The NWC will make the final decision on whether the disqualified aspirants can participate in the primary election.
Cordial Appeal Process
A member of the appeal panel spoke anonymously to The Nation. This source described the committee’s sessions as “cordial and productive.”
The source noted, “The two-day exercise was conducted peacefully and in a family-like atmosphere.” They added that all affected aspirants presented relevant evidence and documentation for their cases.
The National Organising Secretary’s Office will transmit the appeal report to the NWC. It will be considered during Monday’s crucial meeting.
Upcoming Election Schedule
Looking ahead, the APC delegates congress is set for Tuesday, December 9. The delegate congress appeal will then follow on Wednesday, December 10, 2025. Finally, the APC governorship primary election is slated for Saturday, December 13, 2025.
