Nigerian-British boxing star Anthony Joshua is preparing for a major ring return in February 2026, with his team finalizing plans for the comeback bout. Promoter Eddie Hearn confirmed three potential host locations: Ghana, Saudi Arabia, or London.
Speculation about Joshua fighting in Nigeria, his ancestral homeland, has been ruled out. Hearn explained the venue decision depends partly on negotiations for a potential super-fight against Tyson Fury.
February Comeback Plans
“We’re targeting February now,” Hearn stated in an interview with iFL TV. “It could be Saudi Arabia, Ghana, or London. The final decision connects to ongoing talks about the Tyson Fury matchup.”
Joshua’s last appearance ended in a September 2024 defeat to Daniel Dubois. That loss interrupted his winning streak against Otto Wallin, Francis Ngannou, and Robert Helenius.
Fury Showdown Remains the Goal
After recovering from minor elbow surgery, Joshua’s main objective remains a blockbuster showdown with Tyson Fury. Hearn confirmed active discussions for the British super-fight.
“We haven’t finalized the Fury deal yet, but negotiations are progressing,” Hearn revealed. “The plan remains a mid-2026 clash between these British heavyweights.”
Despite both fighters being past their peak, a Joshua-Fury matchup continues generating massive global interest. An official announcement about Joshua’s next opponent and venue is expected before year-end.
