Brazil’s national team manager Carlo Ancelotti has voiced strong confidence in Cristiano Ronaldo achieving the extraordinary milestone of 1,000 career goals. The Portuguese superstar, currently with over 950 goals for club and country, continues to demonstrate remarkable scoring prowess despite approaching 41.
Ronaldo previously indicated the 2026 FIFA World Cup would likely conclude his career, but Ancelotti insists the Al-Nassr forward maintains both the dedication and physical capacity to reach the unprecedented landmark. The veteran Italian coach managed Ronaldo during their successful spell together at Real Madrid.
Ancelotti’s Unshakeable Confidence in Ronaldo
Speaking to Spanish journalist Tomás Roncero, Ancelotti stated: “He will get there, no doubt. I have no doubt he will make it.” Drawing parallels with another aging superstar, he added: “In Italy, they asked me about Modric at 40, and I said he’d excel at Milan. Both Luka and Cristiano are consummate professionals who live for football.”
“Their passion fuels their longevity. Cristiano will undoubtedly reach 1,000 goals. When he does, I expect an invitation to celebrate that historic achievement,” Ancelotti humorously concluded.
Praise for Alonso’s Real Madrid Reign
Ancelotti also commended his former player Xabi Alonso, who succeeded him as Real Madrid manager this season. The Spanish tactician has guided Los Blancos to the LaLiga summit with impressive defensive solidity and attacking efficiency.
“I managed Xabi at Bayern Munich and recognized his tactical intelligence immediately,” Ancelotti noted. “His transition to management hasn’t surprised me – he’s executing brilliantly. Madrid displays defensive resilience and clinical attacking, especially with Mbappé performing strongly and Bellingham returning to form.”
The Brazilian national coach concluded: “Xabi possesses all qualities for sustained success at the Bernabéu. His leadership ensures Real Madrid remains dominant domestically.”
