Saudi Pro League club Al Kholood has definitively ruled out a move for Liverpool star Mohamed Salah. The club’s owner, Ben Harburg, stated that the Egyptian forward is not a suitable fit for the league.
Harburg expressed significant concerns regarding Salah’s attitude and recent performances. He believes the 33-year-old “doesn’t strike me as a great team player.”
Public apprehension about Salah joining the league is growing, according to Harburg. He pointed out Salah’s age, substantial past earnings, and a subsequent “massive underperformance.” Harburg reiterated that Salah lacks the qualities of a strong team player.
The Al Kholood owner also stressed that past achievements do not guarantee a starting spot. He warned that underperforming players would not automatically receive preferential treatment.
“If a player isn’t performing, they’re not going to be in the starting lineup,” Harburg explained. “We don’t put people in the starting lineup based on what they did three seasons ago or even last season.” This highlights the club’s focus on current form.
Harburg concluded by comparing Salah to Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr., clearly favouring the latter.
He described the combined factors as a “fairly toxic combination.” Harburg expressed his desire for Salah not to join the league. He acknowledged Salah’s star power and regional connection. Still, he maintained Salah is not a good fit. “If it were between him and Vinicius, I’d take Vinicius,” he asserted.
Salah’s Uncertain Future at Liverpool
Meanwhile, reports from England suggest Salah may have played his final game for Liverpool. Manager Arne Slot has reportedly excluded him from the club’s plans for the remainder of the season. This adds to the uncertainty surrounding his future at the club.
