Philip Agbese, Deputy Spokesman of the House of Representatives, has dismissed forgery allegations against Interior Minister Bunmi Tunji-Ojo. The accusations claimed Tunji-Ojo falsified his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate.
Agbese described the claims as a political hoax. He stated desperate politicians created the allegations. These politicians feel threatened by competence and tangible results.
“These allegations are nothing but political noise,” Agbese declared. “Enemies of progress cannot stand Tunji-Ojo’s governance reforms.” He asserted this was an orchestrated effort to tarnish a key cabinet member of President Bola Tinubu.
The lawmaker praised Tunji-Ojo’s performance as Interior Minister. He labeled him a transformative public servant achieving nationwide impact. Agbese highlighted key accomplishments under Tunji-Ojo’s leadership.
Notable achievements include clearing 200,000 passport backlogs in three weeks. Digital systems were implemented to eliminate touting practices. New passport offices opened globally for diaspora Nigerians.
Passport processing now takes days instead of months. Agbese called this proof of effective leadership.
Reforms extended beyond immigration to correctional services. Prison discipline was restored nationwide. Over 4,500 inmates were released to decongest facilities.
Biometric systems now track escapees effectively. Jailbreaks have nearly ended under these measures. Paramilitary agencies saw improved welfare and promotions.
Agbese noted the ministry generated ₦6 billion this year. He presented this as evidence of transparency. “Performance is the best proof of integrity,” he stated.
Nigerians witness Tunji-Ojo’s achievements within one year. Critics should focus on productivity, not falsehoods.
Agbese warned against social media weaponization for character assassination. Legitimate concerns should use proper legal channels. “Rule of law must prevail over rumors,” he insisted.
He reaffirmed Tunji-Ojo’s value to both executive and legislative arms. The minister embodies Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda principles.
