Fulham manager Marco Silva faces a looming challenge. He has expressed concern over potentially losing loanee Samuel Chukwueze. The Nigerian international could be absent for at least 15 days. This is due to the forthcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
AFCON 2025 is set to kick off on December 21 in Morocco. Chukwueze is expected to join the Super Eagles camp. He will bring his current form to the national squad.
Silva Praises Chukwueze’s Impact
Following Fulham’s recent match against Manchester City, Silva commended Chukwueze. He specifically highlighted the winger’s impressive performance. The coach admitted his delight with the Nigerian’s impact. However, he also voiced apprehension about losing Chukwueze to international duty once more.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Silva stated, “He’s getting better and better. Unfortunately, we’re going to lose him in 15 days.”
Silva added, “This has happened three times in the last three months. But it is what it is. Until then, we must get the best from him. Let’s hope we can do it on Sunday again.”
The absence of key players during international tournaments often impacts clubs. Silva’s comments underline the dilemma many European clubs face. They must balance domestic competitions with national team commitments.
