The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Adamawa State has inaugurated a caretaker executive committee to manage party affairs until permanent leadership elections are held.
This transitional structure aims to stabilize the party ahead of the 2027 general elections. The October 26, 2025 ceremony was overseen by ADC’s North East Zonal Vice Chairman David Lawal Babachir.
New Leadership Structure Approved
Babachir confirmed the National Working Committee approved the caretaker arrangement after constitutional consultations. He stressed adherence to party rules. “This leadership follows due process under ADC’s constitution,” Babachir stated.
He warned against indiscipline and emphasized unity. “Anyone opposing our constitution has no place in ADC,” Babachir declared while reinforcing party principles outlined by National Chairman Senator David Mark.
Interim Chairman’s Vision
Interim chairman Barrister Sadiq Dasin, a former federal lawmaker and Adamawa Assembly Speaker, pledged inclusive leadership. Dasin committed to reserving 60% of elective positions for women and youth in upcoming congresses.
“Women and youth are vital to our success,” Dasin affirmed. He described his appointment as necessary for party unity and urged aggrieved members to support the new leadership.
Dasin promised transparent future congresses. “We’ll ensure credible elections free from manipulation,” he said. The chairman emphasized building democratic accountability within Adamawa’s ADC structure.
