The Ogun State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has confirmed it awaits contact from Iyabo Obasanjo-Bello. The former senator and daughter of ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo is rumored to be considering the party for her 2027 political ambitions.
Speculation intensified after billboards featuring Obasanjo-Bello appeared across Abeokuta. These included locations near the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library on Abiola Way and Brewery Junction. The signage described her as “Omo wa ni, eniyan wa ni, ara wa ni” (Our child, our person, our kin).
Political sources suggest she may contest the Ogun Central Senatorial seat through ADC. This aligns with her father’s tactical support for the party during the 2019 elections. The former senator hasn’t publicly declared her intentions yet.
ADC Ogun State Chairman Otunba Femi Soluade acknowledged the speculation. He clarified that Obasanjo-Bello hasn’t contacted the party yet. “We are waiting for her to talk to us,” Soluade stated. He added that the party executive will soon discuss the situation.
