A Nigerian military officer has been abandoned by his unit in the wilderness, leading him to cry out to God for assistance and safety.
A widely circulated video on social platforms captures the soldier trekking through dense vegetation while audibly praying for protection and endurance.
Abandoned Soldier Shares Bush Ordeal
The stranded serviceman detailed his immense suffering since being left behind. He pleaded: “I’ve suffered a lot. I’m trying, save my life, I’m the only one in the bush. The remaining soldiers have run leave me. God help me. God protect my life.”
This heartfelt appeal has evoked nationwide sympathy, prompting prayers for his wellbeing and raising concerns over escalating security issues.
Public Reaction: Concern and Frustration
Mazi Uche commented: “Heartbreaking. What is really happening in this country? This country is fast becoming an ungoverned space.”
Eze Victor stated: “The next thing, they will start punishing soldiers that take phones to the front. Anything to hide the incompetence of this government.”
Another user, 9jacontrol, remarked: “The Nigerian army needs help. The Nigerian citizens need help. Guess who doesn’t? The Nigerian politicians.”
Chazak Magen added: “This is no longer getting out of hand, it’s already out of hand. This is the lowest point for that country.”
Babatunde Oyeyemi noted: “Tell me why these soldiers won’t be disoriented. A Brigadier General was killed and not even a whimper from the government. Soldiers are killed in their hundreds but no empathy from GCON. Instead, they are consumed with politicking against 2027. Nigerian lives matter too.”
