Peter Obi Blames Nigerians for Ongoing Election Rigging
The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, stated that election manipulation continues in Nigeria because many citizens allow it by abandoning their polling units immediately after casting their ballots.
He emphasized that the ultimate responsibility lies with Nigerians, urging them to remain at polling centres and ensure that votes are properly counted.
According to Obi, votes can only be safeguarded when citizens actively monitor the electoral process instead of leaving right after voting.
He said, “Elections are rigged in Nigeria because Nigerians want it to be rigged. I will do whatever is possible to protect votes in the 2027 election, but it is now left for Nigerians to decide if their votes will count.”
“If you vote and stay in your polling unit and insist your votes must count, they will be counted. But some Nigerians would rather vote and go home, then later attend a night vigil to pray, thinking they are the only ones God created. The problem of Nigeria is leadership,” he added.
