Atiku Abubakar Meets Rotimi Amaechi in Abuja
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has disclosed the details of his recent meeting with ex‑Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi, held at Amaechi’s Abuja residence on Thursday.
The encounter followed their earlier rivalry at the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primaries.
This afternoon, I visited my brother and compatriot, former Governor of Rivers State and ex‑Minister of Transportation, Chief Rotimi Amaechi, at his Abuja residence.

Beyond the warm camaraderie, the two leaders engaged in frank discussions about Nigeria’s troubling state, rising economic hardship, insecurity and the duty of patriotic citizens to seek solutions that can pull the nation out of drift and despair.
Atiku also used the occasion to wish Amaechi a happy birthday, joking that Arsenal’s recent historic victory could not have come at a better moment. He noted that the former minister, a devoted Arsenal fan, took the banter in good spirits.
In true Rivers hospitality, Amaechi apologised for not having time to prepare Fisherman Soup, a delicacy he promised to serve on their next meeting.
