ADC Suspends Collation of Presidential Primary Results
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) announced on Tuesday that it has suspended the collation of results from its presidential primary election, which was conducted across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The party said the exercise will resume on Wednesday.
The collation was taking place at the Congress Hall of the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja. Party officials indicated that the process is expected to continue later today, around 8 p.m.
Preliminary results released so far show former Vice‑President Atiku Abubakar maintaining a clear lead over his main challengers, former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi and economist Mohammed Hayatu‑Deen.
Both Amaechi and Hayatu‑Deen had earlier questioned the credibility of the primary, alleging widespread manipulation during the voting process.
In response, the ADC urged the two aspirants to direct any complaints through the party’s established internal structures and statutory electoral procedures.
Bolaji Abdullahi, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, made these remarks during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today programme. He emphasized that, at this stage, there is no evidence to support claims that the primary was rigged in favour of Atiku Abubakar.
Abdullahi added that because the collation exercise is still incomplete, it is premature to either confirm or dismiss the allegations raised by the aspirants.
