Atiku Abubakar Leads ADC Presidential Primary with Wins in Lagos, Kebbi, and Kano
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has strengthened his position in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primary after securing victories in Lagos, Kebbi, and Kano states.
Lagos State Results
In Lagos, Atiku polled 37,779 votes, defeating former Rivers State Governor and ex‑Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi, who received 6,791 votes. Another aspirant, Mohammed Hayatu‑Deen, came third with 2,261 votes.
Kebbi State Results
Atiku also recorded a strong showing in Kebbi, securing 65,153 votes. Amaechi placed second with 5,931 votes, while the vote total for Hayatu‑Deen was not immediately available from the announced result.
Kano State Results
In Kano, Atiku again led the field with 155,995 votes. Amaechi followed with 15,914 votes, and Hayatu‑Deen finished third with 9,994 votes.
The results from these three states were released as the ADC continues to collate figures from its presidential primary election across the country. Atiku, Amaechi, and Hayatu‑Deen are vying for the party’s presidential ticket ahead of the 2027 general election.
