APC Chairman Claims South-South Now Fully Behind Tinubu
The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, said that the entire South‑South region has withdrawn its support from Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate Peter Obi and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Yilwatda added that the earlier backing Obi received from Christian communities in states such as Plateau, Nasarawa and a few other northern areas was driven mainly by religious sentiment.
According to the APC chief, those sentiments have now faded, and the South‑South, together with the aforementioned northern states, are fully aligned with President Bola Tinubu.
He illustrated the shift by pointing to electoral gains: “In 2023 we had a certain number of APC governors, House of Assembly members and senators; today those figures have risen significantly, with over 90 senators now in the APC camp.”
Yilwatda concluded that, from governors to National Assembly members, the South‑South is now wholly with Tinubu, marking a clear change from the 2023 election pattern.
