Atiku Wins ADC Presidential Primary in Abia
Former Vice‑President Atiku Abubakar has been declared the winner of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primary election held across wards in Abia State.
The returning officer, Onyebuchi Chukwu, announced the results on Monday, noting that the exercise was conducted peacefully and monitored by security agencies.
Mohammed Hayatu‑Deen finished third with 3,264 votes, while former Transport Minister Rotimi Amaechi placed second.
ADC publicity secretary Francess Olisa Ogbonnaya praised party members for their turnout and peaceful conduct, singling out supporters in Arochukwu for their orderly participation.
Atiku Also Triumphs in Sokoto State ADC Primary
In a related development, Atiku secured a resounding victory in the ADC presidential primary across the 23 local government areas of Sokoto State.
Chief returning officer Professor Aminu Abubakar announced that Atiku polled 68,823 votes, defeating Amaechi who garnered 292 votes and Hayatu‑Deen with 319 votes.
A total of 69,434 votes were cast in the Sokoto exercise, which was described as peaceful by the returning officer.
