Jim Iyke Opens Up About How Losing His Spark Led to the End of His Marriage
Nollywood actor Jim Iyke has spoken openly about the factors that contributed to the collapse of his marriage, describing a period of deep emotional low that altered his presence at home.
He explained that during this time he became completely absorbed in caring for his son, dedicating all his energy to fatherhood while neglecting his role as a husband.
Over the months, Jim felt he was more present as a father than as a partner, which created a growing distance between him and his wife. She told him she could no longer recognise the man she had married.
The actor said he was honest with her about his struggles, admitting he did not know how long it would take to regain his former self. He asked for her patience but also acknowledged that she might not be able to wait.
Ultimately, she decided to walk away. Both parties ended the marriage on peaceful terms and continue to remain friends.
“I lost my spark, and my wife suffered for it. And then I became an obsessive dad. I gave everything in me to my son. I was a proper stay‑at‑home dad.
“I became an excellent father but a woeful husband. After a while, she said, ‘I can’t find the man I married anymore.’ I told her, ‘I don’t know what it’d take for me to heal and bring myself back.
“If you want to wait for me, I’d appreciate it. And if you can’t, I would understand.’ She said she couldn’t, so we shook hands and parted as friends.”
