Osifo Speaks on His Decision to Contest Tinubu
All Progressive Congress (APC) presidential aspirant Stanley Osifo has revealed why he chose to challenge President Bola Tinubu in the party’s primary.
Speaking on Arise Television after the election, Osifo said he summoned the courage to run so that Nigeria could improve and Nigerians could enjoy the benefits of democracy.
He stated, “The election has come and gone, and we have a winner…we don’t have a loser in APC.”
When asked about his motivation, he replied, “The driving force is to show that we work hard to make Nigeria better, to continue delivering democratic dividends to Nigerians, and to deepen democracy within our party.”
On whether he ever believed he could defeat Tinubu, Osifo noted, “This isn’t my first attempt. I have done it before, and this time I pursued the same office.”
He added, “In all things, the party comes first, and loyalty to the party is paramount. Everything we did was an internal party process, not an external one.”
He acknowledged there were many intrigues, but said the party reviewed them and concluded they were on the right track.
Osifo received just a single vote in his own ward. When questioned if this indicated his own people disliked him, he responded, “I wouldn’t say that. Every action has its reasons.”
