Full Text of President Tinubu’s Speech After Winning APC Presidential Primary for 2027 Election
On Sunday, President Bola Tinubu received his certificate of return as the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate for the 2027 general election. The certificate and party flag were presented by APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda in Abuja, following his official declaration as the primary winner.
In his remarks after securing the party’s nomination, President Tinubu thanked the party leadership, governors, and other stakeholders for their continued support and confidence.
He began by reflecting on the nation’s democratic journey, noting that progress is a collective effort rather than the work of any single individual.
He recalled his initial aspiration four years earlier, standing alongside fellow contenders at Eagle Square, and how the support of Nigerians propelled him to the presidency.
Tinubu said he returns as incumbent president, humbled by enduring backing and motivated to deepen the reforms started in 2022.
He outlined that the current task is to affirm continuity—consolidating reforms, securing progress, and strengthening the foundations of a modern Nigeria.
The president expressed gratitude for the nomination and highlighted key achievements since 2022, including the establishment of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund, which has disbursed over N282 billion to more than 1.5 million students.
On power, he noted the closure of the metering gap with 2.5 million meters installed, a N4 trillion bond programme to settle legacy debts, and generation peaks reaching 6 000 MW—50 percent above inherited levels.
Tinubu pointed to macroeconomic gains: a strengthening naira, rising foreign reserves, and improved revenue performance despite inflationary pressures from regional conflicts.
He emphasized infrastructure investments across transport, power, digital connectivity, housing, and irrigation, citing durable roads, upgraded airports and seaports, and renewed oil‑and‑gas sector reforms attracting billions in fresh investment.
Social investment programmes targeting vulnerable households, youth, women, and small businesses were highlighted, alongside a call to revive national values of unity and togetherness.
Acknowledging remaining challenges, he said rising living costs and security concerns are met with honesty and action, including intensified security operations and a push for state police via constitutional amendment.
Tinubu reaffirmed his commitment to lead with even greater determination, promising an irreversible path toward economic expansion, industrialisation, energy security, infrastructure development, food sufficiency, and democratic consolidation.
He concluded with a call for unity across Nigeria’s regions, urging patriotism and collective effort to safeguard democracy and build a more secure, united, and prosperous nation for future generations.
